Founded in 1965, Langley Bowls Club (formerly Muirhead Bowls Club) is dedicated to promoting lawn green bowls in the local community of Beckenham and the surrounding areas. Our members come from all walks of life and share a passion for staying active and healthy. We believe that bowls can bring people together and create a sense of camaraderie and teamwork whilst building a friendly, supportive and social outlet for our members.
We have good facilities to accommodate the small club that we are.
We have 6 rinks which are kept in good order throughout the season to provide a level playing green to make it an excellent surface for bowlers.
Our Members are friendly, knowledgeable about bowls, and we're always happy to help new members who may wish to try a go at bowling for the first time.
First and foremost, we are a friendly club with an aim to be supportive of each other and welcoming to new members. We appreciate that each member is different and we value diversity.
Our aim is to provide an opportunity for people of all ages and abilities to have a game of bowls whether it be on an informal basis for fun or of a competitive nature for those who wish to take the game more seriously.
We welcome complete beginners as well as experienced bowlers.
We also want to dispel the myth that lawn green bowls is only for older members of the community!
So, as a small club, we want to attract more members to help build participation in the sport we love so that we can share it with younger members within the community (the future of bowling!), with single people, families, working people, and retirees: people from all and any walks of life!
Bowls is a great way to keep yourself fit. According to the NHS, ‘this type of exercise can be just as effective as high-impact activities like running when it comes to reducing the risk of heart disease’.
We believe that bowling helps keep the body supple and the mind focused. It is an ideal outlet for those who may find themselves socially isolated, in need of a new challenge in life or simply wish to learn and develop a new skill.
